On December 17, Zhou Weiqiang, chairman of the CPPCC Suzhou, led an inspection team to the Suzhou International Commercial Tribuanl(SICT) to learn about its functioning and development since it was set up.
At the subsequent symposium, the inspection team listened to a report made by Xu Qingyu, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of the Suzhou Intermediate People's Court, on the work of courts in the city, and fully affirmed their achievements. Since the beginning of last year, the city’s courts have persisted with dealing with the overall situation, serving the people, rendering impartial justice, carrying out the “six stability” and “six guarantees” work in accordance with the law, and striving to provide a strong judicial guarantee for Suzhou's high-quality development. From January to November, Suzhou’s courts accepted a total of 305,139 cases of various types, and concluded 246,377, which continued to rank first among courts across the whole province. Among them, the Suzhou Intermediate People's Court accepted 22,482 cases and concluded 17,715 cases. Related work of the court has been approved 6 times by the main leaders of the Supreme Court, and 24 times by the main leaders of the CPC Committee and the People’s Government of Suzhou.
Chairman Zhou pointed out that the CPPCC’s inspection is mainly to give full play to the CPPCC’s democratic supervision functions, learn about facts to better provide suggestions for the improvement of the rule of law in Suzhou, especially the development of the city’s court work, and to further strengthen communication between the CPPCC and the court. Since the beginning of last year, the city’s courts have been guided by Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, earnestly studied and implemented Xi’s thoughts on the rule of law, and persisted on dealing with the overall situation, serving the people, rendering impartial justice, carrying out the “six stability” and “six guarantees” work in accordance with the law, and striving to provide a strong judicial guarantee for Suzhou's high-quality development.
In his speech, Chairman Zhou hoped that the city’s courts will thoroughly implement the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the spirit of the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping during his Jiangsu inspection, guide court work with the latest thoughts, serve overall development with greater achievements, render justice to the people with more practical measures, strengthen self-development with higher standards, strive to create high-quality justice, and provide more advanced judicial services and guarantees for Suzhou to take the lead in realizing modernization.
CPPC Suzhou’s vice-chairmen Wang Zhuming, Chen Xiongwei, Cheng Huaguo, Li Zan and Wang Qinghua, Member of the Party Leadership Group Pu Ronggao, and Secretary General Jin Jiancheng participated in the inspection.
